“It Is What It Is: A Hood Love
Story” , By Ivory B
From the very beginning this book
held my attention, I was able to identify with each character, and understand what each one brought to this book. For a
first time author, Ivory, gives a wonderful storyline, of young successful
women in love. We meet Lucky, Ty, and Keema each very successful women within there own rights. They could have
had anyone that they wanted biut they chose to be with men with men who live by the street code. However the lifestyle
they lived alone was a cause for some drama Lucky meets and falls for Los a King Pin in the streets of Philadelphia. It seemed to be love at first sight until an ex fling of Los causes drama within their relationship. Than there is Ty who also happens to be Lucky first cousin. Ty has always prided herself on having the best in life and dreamed of marrying a successful business man. However those plans are side tracked by the attraction she has for Nice who happens to be Los right hand man. While she can't deny her feelings she doesn't want to act on them because of Nice involvements in the streets and not to mention he also had a brief fling with an family member. Then there is Keema both friends of Lucky and Ty she has a relationship with Jah but there story is a little different being that they use to be high school sweet hearts. After an infidelity and an unwanted STD Keema decided to split ways with Jah, but upon Lucky and Los hooking up it seemed as if there romance has rekindled but a secret that Keema has been keeping from Jah could threaten there relationship. This
book was interesting, even without getting involved, in the dynamics of Los,
Nice, and Jah career choice. The drama
within each relationship was enough, from cheating, lying, baby momma’s, and just jealous family, was
enough to keep you turning those pages.
Anyone who has ever been in love, can relate to this story, about the
ups and downs, heartache, and the tears.
Check out this incredible journey, of love, life and friendship.
